Delete your Frelio account.

An account is optional in Frelio. If you made one and want it gone, there are two ways to delete it. Both remove everything Frelio's servers hold for you.

the fastest way

In the app

  1. Open Frelio and tap your picture to open the You page.
  2. Under Your Frelio account, tap Delete account.
  3. Type "delete" and confirm.

It happens right away, for every device on that account.

Your notebook stays on your devices. Delete the app to remove it there too.

Without the app

Lost your phone, or deleted Frelio first? Email contact@danielnorris.com from the address you signed up with and ask us to delete your account.

We may reply to that address first to make sure the request is really yours. Then we delete the account and everything tied to it, and email you when it's done. That happens within 7 days.

Signed in with Apple and chose Hide My Email? Include the relay address Frelio got. It's in your Apple ID settings under Sign in with Apple.

Email a deletion request

What gets deleted

  • Your account: your email address, your first name if you gave one, and your sign-in.
  • The encrypted copy of your notebook on Frelio's server.
  • Your synced photos, which were stored encrypted.
  • Your list of devices and the encrypted keys that let them open your notebook.
  • Your contact record in Frelio's email list, so Frelio email stops.

When you delete in the app, it also clears the notebook key from that device and from its backup in your iCloud Keychain or Google account.

What isn't kept

Frelio couldn't read your notebook to begin with, and neither could we. It was encrypted on your device with a key Frelio never has, right up to the moment it's deleted.

A few copies take a little longer to disappear, and none of them are kept on purpose:

  • Database backups. Frelio's database is backed up once a day and each backup is kept for 7 days. A deleted account can sit in a backup for up to a week, still encrypted, and then it's gone for good.
  • The email list. Your contact record goes to HubSpot's recycling bin, which removes it for good after 90 days. You won't get Frelio email in the meantime.

If you deleted by email, a copy of the notebook key may stay in your own iCloud Keychain or Google account. It opens nothing now, and it's yours, not ours.

Never made an account?

Then there's nothing on Frelio's servers to delete. Your notebook lives only on your device, plus your own iCloud or Google backup if you have one turned on. Deleting the app removes it.
